Trade Recruit is proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of our prestigious clients based in Birmingham, a growing and forward‑thinking domiciliary optical company, who are seeking an experienced Domiciliary Optical Assistant.
This role involves supporting clinics delivered in private properties and care homes, with clinics also carried out in the company’s own mobile eyecare unit (mobile eyecare van) where required. It’s an excellent opportunity for an Optical Assistant who enjoys community‑based work and providing high‑quality, patient‑focused care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Optometrist during domiciliary clinics
- Assisting with clinics in private homes, care homes, and the mobile eyecare unit where required
- Dispensing all types of lenses, including single vision, bifocal, and varifocal
- Preparing equipment and ensuring clinics run smoothly
- Providing professional and reassuring patient care
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
- Driving between appointments across the Birmingham area
Requirements
Essential:
- Previous experience as an Optical Assistant
- Confident dispensing all types of lenses
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, caring, and patient‑focused approach
Desirable:
- Previous domiciliary experience
- Experience working with elderly or vulnerable patients
