Driver / Construction Operative

Trade Recruit is proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of our prestigious clients based in South London & Kent.

Our client is seeking a reliable and hardworking Driver / Construction Operative to join their expanding team. This varied role combines driving responsibilities with hands-on site support, helping to ensure construction projects run smoothly and efficiently.

You will be responsible for transporting materials, supporting site logistics, assisting with labouring duties, and maintaining high standards of health and safety across multiple high-end residential construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a company tipper van between suppliers, merchants and construction sites.
• Collect and deliver building materials safely and efficiently.
• Remove construction waste and surplus materials from sites.
• Attend authorised recycling centres and waste transfer stations.
• Operate the hydraulic tipping mechanism safely and correctly.
• Load and unload materials using safe manual handling techniques.
• Check deliveries against delivery notes and report discrepancies.
• Assist with general labouring and site support duties as required.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and report any issues.
• Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the company vehicle.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Full UK driving licence with a good driving record.
• Ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
• Previous construction or labouring experience.
• Good knowledge of building materials and construction terminology.
• Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual duties.
• Reliable, organised and proactive approach to work.
• Strong communication skills and a positive team attitude.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Previous tipper van driving experience.
• CSCS Card.
• Plant machinery experience.
• Experience working on residential construction projects.
