Trade Recruit is proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of our prestigious clients based in North Yorkshire, a well-established and highly respected business with a strong pipeline of domestic and light commercial work.

We are seeking experienced, self-employed Gas Engineers and Oil Engineers to support ongoing projects across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals looking for consistent subcontract work, competitive day rates, and a professional, supportive working environment.

The role focuses on installation, servicing, and repairs, with a strong emphasis on quality workmanship and outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, servicing, and repair of boilers, heating systems, and gas/oil appliances
  • Accurate diagnosis and efficient resolution of faults
  • Ensuring all work complies with current gas safety regulations and industry standards
  • Completion of job sheets, service records, and required documentation
  • Delivering a professional and customer-focused service on every visit
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicle to a high standardWorking independently and effectively managing your workload

Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Gas Engineer or Oil Engineer
  • Current and recognised certifications, including:
  • CCN1, CKR1, HTR1, MET1
  • LPG / CONGLP1
  • OFTEC (for oil engineers)
  • Proven experience working on domestic heating systems
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset

Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience with light commercial systems
  • Strong local knowledge of the North Yorkshire area
