Our client is a growing contractor delivering fire door installation, inspection, maintenance, remediation and certification services across the UK, alongside a wide range of residential and commercial construction projects. Their portfolio includes loft conversions, house extensions, bathroom refurbishments, property renovations, fit-outs and general building works. Working with housing providers, property managers, commercial organisations and private clients, they are committed to delivering high-quality, compliant and cost-effective solutions.
Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial delivery of both fire safety and construction projects. This role is ideal for a commercially driven professional looking to play a key part in a growing business while influencing profitability, project delivery and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates, quotations, cost plans and tender submissions for fire safety and construction projects.
- Review specifications, drawings and survey reports to produce accurate pricing.
- Manage projects including loft conversions, extensions, bathroom refurbishments, renovations and general building works.
- Monitor project costs, margins and overall profitability.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment and client valuations.
- Manage variations, compensation events and change control processes.
- Procure subcontractors and materials, ensuring best value and compliance.
- Assess subcontractor applications and prepare payments.
- Produce cost reports, forecasts and commercial performance updates.
- Negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Identify risks and commercial opportunities across projects.
- Support business development and tendering activities.
- Build strong relationships with clients, housing providers, commercial partners, subcontractors and suppliers.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit-out, refurbishment or specialist contracting.
- Experience managing residential construction projects such as loft conversions, extensions, renovations and bathroom refurbishments.
- Strong understanding of cost management and commercial controls.
- Experience preparing quotations, valuations and final accounts.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Office.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within fire protection, fire doors, passive fire or compliance works.
- Knowledge of JCT or other standard construction contracts.
- RICS qualification or working towards chartered status.
- Experience with public sector, housing associations or FM contracts.
- Experience working across both residential construction and specialist compliance projects.
